About

a little about us...

Biography

This NGO was founded in 1996 by Late Ravinder Singh, a businessman by profession. It has been fully funded by the Singh family for the last 17 years and has been their contribution towards the Corporate Social Responsibility which has been made mandatory for all business houses by the Govt. of India. A generous Donor had contributed for the last 24 months to maintain the services. Lifeline Foundation operates two tele-helplines for people who may be distressed, depressed or suicidal. Our objective is to give emotional support to those who are in a crisis. We work from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Our vision is to be a 24 hour helpline

The volunteers at Lifeline Foundation have to go through an extensive few days of training and are chosen after a very stringent screening process. Our volunteers need to be proficient in Hindi, Bengali and English and are trained to listen to the distressed caller without any judgement or inherent bias.

Lifeline does not offer opinions to the distressed caller or counsel them, rather callers are allowed to talk about their problems and are listened to them with compassion, thus giving them an outlet to release their pent up frustrations and sorrow.

A very important service rendered by us is giving referrals for the NGOs working in different fields. There are many good organizations that are there to help people in distress which the common man may not know about.

We also offer face to face befriending, interacting with distressed or suicidal individuals at our centres. We also do outreach programme with Educational Institutions, where we have interacted with students as well as parents to help them to cope with the stress of their daily lives.
